Winter Kill Deer 9673.tif
A small whitetail deer lays dead in the forest in Jamaica Vermont. The recently dead animal could not escape a coyote that attacked from the rock ledge above. The deer has been partially comsumed during daylight hours. The ice covered ground and severe weather conditions may have contributed to the deers inability to get food or to escape to safety. Many other scavengers including some large crows and ravens seen nearby will benifit from the death of this young animal.
